Unity Day

Unity Day at Spectrum International School is a special event that celebrates diversity and promotes cultural understanding. As part of the event, we organize a stand fair of cultures, where students showcase their heritage through displays, traditional costumes, artifacts, and food. This fair provides an opportunity for students to learn about different cultures and traditions, fostering respect and appreciation for diversity. Additionally, our talented students showcase their skills and talents through performances held in prominent local malls, allowing the wider community to experience and celebrate the diverse talents within our school. Unity Day at Spectrum International School is a joyful celebration that promotes unity, inclusivity, and multiculturalism.

Nauryz

At Spectrum International School, we celebrate Nauryz, the Kazakh cultural New Year, with great enthusiasm and respect for Kazakh traditions. Nauryz is a joyous and vibrant celebration that signifies the arrival of spring and new beginnings. During this event, our students and staff come together to participate in various activities, including traditional Kazakh music and dance performances, cultural displays, and games. We highlight the significance of Nauryz by showcasing Kazakh customs, cuisine, and traditional attire. This celebration fosters cultural awareness, appreciation, and unity, allowing our students to learn about and embrace the rich heritage of Kazakhstan

Public holidays

At Spectrum International School, the holidays of Kazakhstan are celebrated with deep respect for the traditions and culture of the country. The school year begins with the opening of the school, and Teacher's Day is held in October, when students express their gratitude to their teachers, creating an atmosphere of appreciation and respect. Constitution Day (August 30) features lessons on rights and laws, and Republic Day (October 25) is celebrated with concerts emphasizing the importance of independence. Independence Day (December 16-17) is filled with events reflecting Kazakhstan's history and achievements. New Year (January 1-2) brings joy to children through matinees and festive events. Spring holidays begin with the first spring holiday - Gratitude Day (March 1), followed by International Women's Day (March 8), which is celebrated with congratulations to teachers, staff and mothers. On Defender of the Fatherland Day (May 7), patriotic events highlighting the importance of military service are held. The school year ends with the solemn closing of the school for the summer vacation and the graduation ceremony for 12th grade students.

Co-curricular activities

Extra-curricular activities at Spectrum International School are varied and develop skills, cooperation and competition.

The school runs global competitions such as the World Scholars Cup and Owlypia, where students participate in academic competitions such as debates and quizzes, developing critical thinking and global awareness.

Participation in Robotics Club helps develop pupils' engineering and inventive abilities as well as problem solving skills. They participate in various international competitions.

Students represent the school in regional and national competitions in various sports such as badminton and volleyball. Each class has the opportunity to showcase their creative talents on stage in front of the whole school.

They develop skills in acting and improvisation and work as a team by participating in regional and national competitions such as KVN.

Subject weeks

Subject Weeks at Spectrum International School provide focused learning experiences. Each week, a specific subject takes priority, allowing students to deeply engage with its concepts and applications. Through classroom instruction and hands-on activities, students enhance their understanding and critical thinking skills. Subject Weeks encourage collaboration among peers and foster curiosity within academic disciplines. This structured approach ensures students receive comprehensive education across various subjects, preparing them for academic success.

Clubs

Student-led Clubs

Spectrum International School fosters student engagement and personal growth through a variety of extracurricular activities. UNESCO clubs promote global citizenship and cultural understanding. The Students Club offers diverse interests, including Model United Nations conferences for diplomatic debates. Labxplorer is a student-led project focused on improving local students' academic progress through tutoring and mentoring, fostering community engagement and social responsibility.

Art and Creativity Club

This club provides students with opportunities for creative expression through various art forms such as painting, drawing. In addition, students can develop their musical talent through instrument lesson as piano, dombyra, ukelele participation in an orchestra or band, and vocal training. In the Drama segment, students are invited to develop acting skills, develop stage presence, and participate in theater performances.

Skills

Spectrum International School provides electives courses as Coding, Robotics, introduces students to programming languages and technology exploration.

Debate course enhances public speaking and critical thinking skills.

Science projects engages students in hands-on experiments and research.

Sports Club

Students can enhance their athletic abilities and sportsmanship through basketball, football, badminton, and table tennis.

Basketball training and matches promote teamwork and physical fitness.

Football activities include regular training, friendly matches, and participation in competitions.

Badminton sessions focus on hand-eye coordination and strategic thinking. Table tennis offers training to improve technique and reflexes.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in karate sessions, where they can learn discipline, focus, and self-defense techniques under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Student council

The Student Council at Spectrum International School is instrumental in advocating for student interests, coordinating events, and nurturing a communal atmosphere. Elected members work closely with faculty and administration to address student needs, coordinate school-wide initiatives, and enhance the overall student experience.

SC Team, Positions, and President: The Student Council comprises a dedicated team of elected representatives who hold various positions such as president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and committee members. The president leads the council and works alongside other members to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

SC Election Policy: The Student Council election process follows a transparent and democratic policy, allowing students to nominate candidates and vote for their preferred representatives. The election policy ensures fairness, equality, and the opportunity for all students to participate in the democratic process.

PBMS (Positive Behaviour Management System)

Spectrum International School has implemented a House System as part of our Positive Behaviour Management System (PBMS). The House System consists of four houses named Arlan, Sunkar, Tulpar, and Barys. Each student and staff member is assigned to one of these houses, creating a sense of belonging and fostering a spirit of friendly competition. The House System promotes positive behavior, teamwork, and leadership skills. Students earn points for their houses through academic achievements, good conduct, participation in extracurricular activities, and acts of kindness. Regular house events and competitions are organized to encourage collaboration and sportsmanship. The House System at Spectrum International School is an integral part of our school culture, promoting a positive and supportive learning environment.

Spectrum Insight

Spectrum Insight is a student journal where students can publish their research papers, essays, and creative works. This platform provides an opportunity for students to showcase their academic achievements, share their perspectives, and contribute to the intellectual discourse within the school community. Spectrum Insight nurtures a culture of academic curiosity and intellectual growth.
